Being Active in 1A

1A have been very busy in PE this week.

We had a go at throwing a foam javelin. I wonder who threw it the furthest?

We were very good at tossing bean bags into the hoops.

Brian went over to Picky with P3 to play tag rugby on the astroturf. It was a bit cold but he soon warmed up with all the running around they did!

St Magnus Cathedral

As we have been doing some work on churches in class, we decided to go a walk to the Cathedral to have a look inside one.

It was really interesting looking at all the exciting things inside the Cathedral. The stained glass windows were amazing - almost as good as the ones we made at school!

Time

This week we have been learning about time.

We made a giant clock in the back playground out of chalk and used strips of cardboard for the hands. It was great fun making different o'clock times.

Today we carried out an experiment to see how much water plants need to grow.

We planted some cress seeds in 3 different pots. 1 pot will not be watered, 1 pot will get 5 sprays of water and the last pot will be watered as normal.

We each predicted which pot will grow the best. We will keep an eye on the cress over the coming days to see if our guesses are correct!

As part of our topic work we have been learning about the weather. We looked at some weather forecasts on the smartboard before having a go at making our own.

Lets hope their forecasts are correct and tomorrow is going to be lovely and sunny!

Making Pizza

There was a lot of work involved in making our own pizzas.

First we had to make the dough. We weighed out the ingredients then mixed it together until it came together. It was quite tough trying to stir it!

We set the dough aside and prepared the toppings. We very carefully cut up different vegetables to put on top and grated some cheese

Next we rolled out the dough to make the pizza base.

We spread tomato paste over the bases then placed the peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes on one pizza and left the other one plain cheese.

It was worth the effort though as they tasted great!
